Burda to buy Russian interior design publisher Salon-Press from multimedia holding RBC
Moscow, September 11, 2013 – Leading Russian multimedia holding RBC (Moscow Exchange: RBCM) and Publishing House Burda, Moscow, announce today that they have reached an agreement regarding the sale of the Salon-Press business. The company is one of the leading publishing houses on the Russian interior design market and publishes seven titles including “Idei Vashego Doma” (Ideas for Your Home) and “Salon-interior”, a leading premium interior design magazine. RBC acquired a majority stake in the publishing house in 2006.
All legally binding documents were signed on September 10, 2013. The parties expect to finalize the transaction, financial settlements and acquisition by the end of the year after receiving necessary approvals from regulatory authorities.

The divestment of the Salon-Press business, which specializes in interior design print publications, is a logical step in implementing this strategy, allowing us to optimize RBC’s asset portfolio structure and to focus on the company’s priority areas of business. The proceeds from the sale will be allocated to launch new projects in core segments,” says RBC’s President Derk Sauer.
Publishing House Burda was founded in 1995. Burda publishes over 70 titles, 57 special editions of its brands and is the leading publisher in the Russian market in terms of sales of periodical magazines, reaching an audience of over 35 million people (according to a recent TNS Gallup survey). The company is part of Burda International and a subsidiary of Hubert Burda Media, one of the largest global media companies.
RBC is a Russian multimedia holding, with leading positions in news and business media, as well as in domain name registration and hosting. Salon-Press Publishing House was founded in 1994. RBC acquired a majority stake in the publishing house in 2006. Salon-Press is one of the leading publishing houses on the Russian interior press market. Salon-Press publishes 7 titles.
