Alexander Lyubimov steps up to the management level of RBC Group
Moscow, April 4, 2014 – RBC OJSC (Moscow Exchange: RBCM) hereby announces that Alexander Lyubimov is to step up to the management level of RBC Group and will deal with strategic tasks faced by RBC holding. RBC channel’s General Producer Gleb Shagoun, who has been involved in modernizing the TV channel along with Alexander Lyubimov since 2011, will take over the management of the channel.
Alexander Lyubimov has been CEO of RBC channel from November 2011. During this period Alexander and his team brought the channel to a modern format in terms of technology, organization, and editorial policy. Alexander has been a member of RBC’s Executive Board since mid-2013 and, in early 2014, he accepted a proposal to become a member of the company’s Board of Directors.
“A reform of the holding’s management is currently underway with an aim of unlocking the potential of the RBC brand as a 360º platform and making business processes structured and systematized. Alexander’s experience in these issues is of outmost importance to us at the strategic level,” Chairman of RBC’s Board of Directors, Derk Sauer, said.
In his new role Alexander will be directly involved in devising RBC’s development strategy and will deal with GR (Government Relations) issues. As a result, he will continue to influence the future of the entire holding, in particular, to enhance the impact of the RBC brand in the media.
Gleb Shagoun, as the managing director of RBC channel, will continue to develop the channel in accordance with the concept formulated and worked out by Alexander.
Alexander Lyubimov took charge of RBC channel in November 2011. Alexander Lyubimov is a prominent TV journalist, successful producer and public figure with more than 20 years of experience in the Russian television industry. Mr. Lyubimov was a cofounder of VID TV Company and served on its executive board from 1993 to 1998. In 1992-1993 he hosted the Krasny Kvadrat (Red Square) show and managed international broadcasting on the All-Russia State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company Ostankino (VGTRK). In 1995-1998 Mr. Lyubimov hosted the Odin na Odin (Face to Face) TV show, and in 1997-1998 headed the Directorate of News Broadcasting at the Public Russian Television TV channel (ORT). In 1998-2001 Mr. Lyubimov hosted a TV show Zdes y Seychas (Here and Now). After that he was appointed First Deputy CEO of Channel One Russia and produced several TV shows in 2001-2003. In 2000, Mr. Lyubimov spearheaded the formation of MediaUnion, an All-Russian independent organization of media professionals, and served as its President in 2001-2008. In 2007-2011 he worked for Russia TV channel as a host, and in December 2007 was named First Deputy CEO of Russia TV. Mr. Lyubimov has been a member of the Russian Television Academy since 1998. Alexander Lyubimov graduated from the Moscow State Institute for International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the USSR in 1984, the Harvard University (USA) in 1996 and the International Animation Institute (USA) in 2006.
Gleb Shagoun has been working on RBC channel as General Producer since 2011. Gleb Shagoun has more than 18 years of experience in TV. Mr. Shagoun started his career in VID TV Company (Channel One) in 1996. He has been CEO and Producer at The First Field Studio since 2000. Furthermore, Mr. Shagoun produced many famous films, TV shows and series, including The Last Hero reality show (1999-2005), The Night Watch film, Barvikha TV series, Imya Rossiya project, Chapiteau Show film and others. He graduated from the Moscow State University of Culture and Arts with a degree in management of information resources, the Institute for Continuing Education of TV and Radio Specialists completing a course in political TV advertising, and Moscow International Higher Business School MIRBIS with an MBA degree in enterprise management. In addition, Mr. Shagoun completed a course in 3D animation production at the International Animation Institute in Los Angeles.
